The EN PRIMERA FILA blog of Miguel A. Reina highlights in its annual summary of the year 2018 Arturo Cardelús as one of the outstanding composers of the year 2018, for his creations for the documentary YO GALGO and BUÑUEL EN EL LABERINTO DE LAS TORTUGAS.

Born in Madrid, Arturo Cardelús is a young Spanish composer living in Los Angeles with a very promising career. Dedicated and award-winning classical pianist, Arturo Cardelús began to attract attention with his album ‘Con Aire de Tango (2013)‘, which was commissioned by the Berlin Philharmonic soloists after they discovered their music on YouTube.

Since his debut with the short film ‘Sol (2011)‘, Arturo has been testing different genres and styles to reach what is probably his best-known work, the original Netflix mini-series ‘Chiamatemi Francesco (2016)‘ based on the life of Pope Francis.

In recent years, Cardelús has left us with stupendous works such as the documentary ‘The People’s Fighters (2018)‘ or the unusual animated short film ‘In a Heartbeat (2017)‘.

The animated film ‘Buñuel en el laberinto de las tortugas (2018)‘ narrates a stage in the life of the Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel (1900-1983), an internationally recognized figure in the world of cinema and art, and who his exile due to the Spanish Civil War, he was nationalized Mexican. The film focuses on the friendship between a Luis Buñuel who started as a film director, and the artist and anarchist Ramón Acín, who, due to a fortune-telling with the lottery, helped finance his controversial documentary project ‘Las Hurdes, tierra sin pan (1933) ‘.

SON BY SERGIO MOURE DE OTEYZA COMING SOON AT ROSETTA SOUNDTRACK

One of the novelties that Rosetta Soundtrack will bring us next month is the record with the music of Sergio Moure de Oteyza for the SON musical show of the company Nova Galega de Danza. A show where the Galician tradition embraces the Spanish, and plays with the sensitivity and rudeness of a sculptor’s creative process through 10 choreographic pieces.

SON has been one of the most beautiful and enriching projects I’ve done throughout my career as a composer. Marrying rhythmic, harmonic and melodic elements, which are both so distant and so close, gives one the idea of what universal music and how interconnected all is”
